THE COUNTRYSIDE IS A LANDSCAPE RESOURCE, AN AMENITY, AND A WORKING ENVIRONMENT. IN MANY NATIONS, COUNTRYSIDE AREAS ARE PROTECTED BY ZONINGS AIMED AT PRESERVING ITS CHARACTER AND ENVIRONMENT.
